Often in the news but rarely understood, Falun Gong is regularly associated with Chinese human rights issues. Leeshai Lemish gives his understanding of what Falun Gong practitioners actually believe.
“I get asked many questions, like ‘Why are you practicing this? [I tell them] Falun Gong has no color. It goes across the spectrum of all people, of all races. It allows you to come to a point in life where you really know who you are. And that has no color whatsoever.”
What does Falun Gong look like out in the world, then, as it is lived out? Where is it to be found, and in what forms? And has it changed much over the years or in different settings?
In as many as 70 or more countries this weekend, followers and supporters of Falun Dafa will gather to commemorate May 13 as “Falun Dafa Day,” the Falun Dafa Information Center announced Friday.

The Falun Dafa Information Center (FDI) has received first-hand accounts of assault, battery, and theft perpetrated against Falun Gong practitioners in Argentina. The assailants were described as ethnic Chinese, some wearing suits, and driven by car and van to the scene of the crime; photo evidence has confirmed these descriptions.
Thai police manhandled Falun Gong protesters outside the Bangkok Chinese Embassy on December 10, International Human Rights Day. After being seen going in and out of the Chinese Embassy, dozens of Thai policemen crossed the street and roughly searched Falun Gong practitioners quietly protesting the six-year persecution of their practice in China. The police dragged some of them and took away their banners. One officer stated that he did not want to break up their protest but was told to do so by the Chinese Embassy.
More than five thousand practitioners of Falun Gong from all over the world gathered in New York City this past weekend to participate in local activities aimed at raising awareness about the ongoing persecution of Falun Gong in China.
