Lu Dawei was sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp on October 31, 1999.  He experienced various forms of torture including intensive forced labor, frequent beatings, and being forced to hold painful poses for long hours.  In April 2001, he was moved to another forced labor camp where he was force fed strong solutions of salt water down his throat, being shocked with electric batons and burned, and more vicious beatings.  In 2002, he was released in critical condition. However, Lu has since been arrested and tortured several times more.
